Amusing Challenge – Halloween

A few weeks back we focused on Christmas here at  Amusing Challenges – and this week I thought it would be fun to look at a holiday that’s a little closer:  Halloween!   Throughout the month I’ll have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc. This week your challenge is to use die cuts.  I will have a Weekly Winner and at the end of the month, those 4-5 winners will go into a prize drawing for one lucky Grand Prize winner.  August’s prize winner will receive 5 Cherry and 5 Petite Cherry sheets of A Muse Studio cardstock from me!

Cyndi did such a great job coloring this little scene from the A Muse Studio set, You’ve Been Booed.  I don’t know if you ever saw this as a vintage Amuse set but during the Every Day is a Holiday sale you can get this set in a larger size than in the past.   It makes it super fun to color and it’s 40% off!  Normally Cyndi is all about bling and sparkle but I love the simplicity of this card.  You can also see how nice the A Muse Studio cardstock is – colored on one side and white on the other.  Here Cyndi used Grape and Melon cardstock.  She finished it off with some raffia (how fun!) and a button from A Muse Studio.

I ended up using quite a few different cardstocks from A Muse Studio on my card!  Here is Pebble, Orange, Seattle, Seattle Petite Polka Dot and Seattle Chevron cardstock.  I also used some washi tape from the Halloween collection and onyx/white baker’s twine.  For the stamp sets I used Toil and Trouble and then white embossed a sentiment from Tiny Treats.  Both are from A Muse Studio’s Every Day is a Holiday sale.

In complete contrast to this layered card, my next card is pretty simple but features some masking.  I had some tickets laying around from another project, they were cut from Lime A Muse Studio cardstock using their Ticket Die.  I stamped them with one of the ticket rubber stamps from That’s the Ticket, also from A Muse Studio.  Then I masked one of the tickets, in a reverse mask where I cut out the inside of the image so I could use just part of the spider web from the stamp set, You’re a Scream.  The jars and mice are also from that A Muse Studio set (which is ALSO on sale during the Every Day is a Holiday sale) but they did not require masking.  The black patterned paper is one of the new prints from the 6×6 Fiesta paper back that made it’s debut in the new A Muse Studio catalog.  It’s a simple card but I love the pop of lime with the black/white!
