Amusing Challenge – Trees

Thank you for popping in to check out this week’s new Amusing Challenge!   This week we’re focusing on trees.  Throughout the month I’ll have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc. I will have a Weekly Winner and at the end of the month, those 4-5 winners will go into a prize drawing for one lucky Grand Prize winner.  Tomorrow September’s prize will be announced and the prize is a pack of assorted A Muse Studio buttons from me.

I want to share a card my friend Andrea made for me.  Andrea has a lot of vintage amuse stamps and we met on Meet Up when she joined my group – I’m so lucky to have met her because she’s a wonderful (and talented!) gal.  I also appreciate that she drives an hour through Washington DC traffic to come to my house.  I told Andrea I was having troubles with ideas for one of my A Muse Studio stamp sets, Bottle Brush Forest, and she said, “let me have a go at it!”.  The angle of the photo is a little funky but I love how she combined it with this month’s Holiday Hoopla stamp set that is free to all A Muse Studio hostesses this month.  The velvet red ribbon and red gem “nose” are the perfect finishes.

Cyndi just earned the Holiday Hoopla set herself last month as one of my Hostess Club members and I love her Halloween card.  Cyndi sponged in that dark night sky and used the Bat Trio die and red twinkle stickers – both from A Muse Studio.  I love the fall colored leaves – including the purple!  The sentiment and Spooky Fence die are retired amuse studio products.

Cyndi and I were on the same wave length I guess, because I too used the Holiday Hoopla Limited Edition stamp set from A Muse Studio for a Halloween card!  I white embossed my aspen tree trunks on Navy cardstock from amuse studio.  I had originally planned to white emboss the sentiment from  A Muse Studio’s Wicked Web and then mask it before I did the trees but I forgot!   So, I grabbed my Word Windows die set from A Muse Studio and layered the Navy cardstock over a piece of Margarita cardstock, which happens to be one of amuse studio’s new Fiesta colors.  For the eyes I cut some lime sequins in half and they looked “cute” but when I spotted my tiny googly eyes, I thought they would be extra cute!

This is the entire  Holiday Hoopla Limited Edition set in case you were curious and it is available through the end of October.  It has some great deer and I especially like the sentiments.  PS.  I’ve also updated my sidebars to include two other upcoming October specials:  World Card Making Day (last day is today!) and Stamp out Breast Cancer…or you can find all the details under the Promotions tab.  🙂

  1. I have the Bottle Brush set and the first (and only, so far) stamp I used was the “spatter” stamp . . . it’s a little easier for me to use (and control) than using Splash. It’s a good way to fill in “white” space with a little texture

  2. Love how you used the sequins for the eyes…very clever! Great cards!
