Amusing Challenge – ribbon or twine

This week’s theme and monthly prize

Welcome to a new week of Amusing Challenges!  I know that stamping trends come and go, but I still love to use ribbon and especially twine on my cards.  Throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  Based on reader input late last year, I will be changing up the way I award my monthly prize!  We’ll still have the Top 3 winners but now every participant that plays along will earn a chance to win the random drawing for my prize package at the end of the month.   January’s prize is this retired Amuse Studio stamp set called, My Aim is True.

Cyndi’s card just tickled me this week.  If you have a cat, you know that this is their favorite location!  A nice sunny window…  I’ve been enjoying my daughter’s kitten while she was home from college and he loved sitting, looking out the back at the squirrels and birds in the backyard.  It’s like TV for them!  Cyndi did some amazing fussy cutting with Wonderful Windows (one of amuse studio’s previous monthly collections) and Nine Lives which is still available.  I love the sentiments from Nine Lives too, like this “relax, it’s all good” or on my card here.

What are some of your go-to rubber stamping techniques?  If I have time, I like masking.  It works particularly well with smaller images like this strawberry from One in a Melon that is part of Amuse Studio’s January Collection.  I finally broke down and added these Pinking Circle dies which were part of the Holiday Catalog and luckily are still available.  The sequins are teeny-tiny, the same size as our 4 mm sequins in the amuse studio main catalog, but these are opaque and are the Rainbow Sequins – also from the January Collection.  If you like the monthly collections, it’s important to get them during that month – some leftovers do roll over into the PAST COLLECTION section but that’s a “while supplies last” category and so no guarantee!

My next card is dual-hatted since I designed it for the sketch challenge over at Paper Crafting Support Group (you can find them on facebook).  I couldn’t resist adding that loose loop of twine that is so popular right now.  My daughter just returned from a trip to Honduras with her college’s Global Medical Brigade … I thought the stamp set, Hola Amigo, from Amuse Studio was the perfect image and sentiment!

She has a special place in her heart for the children there!  I don’t think they wear sombreros in Honduras, but I just liked the bright and cheerful feeling of the colors.

I hope you join us!

If you love amuse studio rubber stamps, dies and paper, I’d love to talk to you about being a Guest Designer (just commit to once a month if you’d like) here.

If you hadn’t heard, amuse studio made it safe and sound into their new Headquarters and as a special thanks (and celebration of success!) they are offering a 10% savings through January 31st for customer orders.  Use this code:  JANUARY10

It’s super easy to play along with Amusing Challenges, and just as a reminder: 2 entry limit and no digis please!
