Amusing Challenge – Anything Goes

This week’s theme and monthly prize

Last week I wrote “it’s the last day of the month of August!  Yikes!”  Back then I meant July, of course!  That means the prize winner will be announced on Monday for the month of July.  BUT, because August really is a lazy but last minute summer scramble, let’s make the entire month an Anything Goes  Amusing Challenge!

Throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  Based on reader input late last year, I will be changing up the way I award my monthly prize!  We’ll still have the Top 3 winners but now every participant that plays along (and LINKS BACK to the challenge) will earn a chance to win the random drawing for my prize package at the end of the month.  A random winner this month will win this retired Amuse Studio stamp set which is perfect for summertime…Sunshine and Shade.

This Week’s Inspiration

Have you jumped on board the coloring book craze?  I honestly have resisted as I have plenty of stamps that need some inking and I am always in need of some extra cards to have on hand.  My friend and DT member, Juliet, is practical in that sort of way too.   This is her card and she told me:

“I was browsing the mall yesterday when I noticed an unusual offering among the coloring books – a “Ripple art” book.  Instead of giving you a page full of line drawings to color, they only scatter a few small drawings on the page, with the expectation that you will full the empty space between with doodles and concentric circles.  The idea really resonated with me because I used to doodle with concentric lines back when I was in high school.  But… who needs a coloring book when you have stamps?

After I finished doodling, I decided to play with the school doodle concept and picked colors that reminded me of highlighter pens for coloring.  It was fun to do and makes for a very different card, don’t you think?”

What do I think?!  I love it!

Here is a very CAS card that really let’s the Amuse Studio stamp set, Pineapple of My Eye, shine.  You may recognized this stamp set from one of Amuse Studio’s Monthly Collections – it was super popular and I’m delighted that it made it’s way into their new Stamp & Die catalog.

I CASEd the idea of this last card from one I spotted on Pinterest…I used some of the front layout and colors as my starting point.  Just like the card above, I used the popular Landscape die set from Amuse Studio to make an interesting card cut.  I love the way this one layer white, CAS card turned out!
