Amusing Challenge – Anything Goes

This week’s theme and monthly prize

My daughter has headed back to college to begin her third year and this week I will be dropping off my son to start his freshman year.  Life will be different around here.  Does it mean I’ll have more time to craft to fill the void?  I hope so (although hubby is secretly thinking that maybe I will be better at housecleaning!  tee hee).   This week we’ll be relaxing with an Anything Goes theme but again please no digis!   Don’t forget that the entire month of August is an Anything Goes  Amusing Challenge!

Throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  Based on reader input late last year, I will be changing up the way I award my monthly prize!  We’ll still have the Top 3 winners but now every participant that plays along (and LINKS BACK to the challenge) will earn a chance to win the random drawing for my prize package at the end of the month.  A random winner this month will win this package of Amuse Studio creative candy mini dot twinkle stickers.

This Week’s Inspiration

Juliet is back from her vacation and what better way to celebrate a break with a nice beach card?  I love her CAS card with its hand torn sand dune and the way she embossed her seashells to make them pop.  Juliet used Seashells Remind Us from Amuse Studio (it’s from their July Collection and it’s still available while supplies last).  It has some great sentiments in it and you can find Juliet blogging at Ballpoint Bliss.

While I was at Target shopping for dorm room “stuff”, I passed by the dollar section and spotted some Extreme Airhead candies.  They looked like they would fit in Amuse Studio’s narrowest cellophane treat bags and they did!  Two is a tight but manageable squeeze…  I knew immediately that the entire You Are Magical stamp set from Amuse Studio would work perfectly for this little handmade gift wrapping ensemble.  I love matchy-matchy!  I find paper bags make a great kraft base for stamping my gift wrapping – I did iron this lunch bag but often that’s not necessary.

I had to get a quick birthday card out to my Brother in Law.  He lives in Singapore right now and I knew it would take some time for the mail to arrive – at least one out of 2 birthday cards might make it on time this week!  I had the idea in mind to stamp the background repeatedly and leave it black and white (this is kinda popular on Pinterest right now and I used that same idea here).  That little slice of cake is from Amuse Studio’s Birthday Icons and works well for both girl and guy cards!  That allowed me to make it a super fast CAS card by only having to color in one small image.  My daughter gave me a little grief about how I had to stagger the sentiment from amuse studio’s Meal Plan – it’s one stamp but by stamping it separately I could layer it and squeeze it into place.

  1. Good luck to both your college daughter & son. My daughter is back living at home which I’m gald to have her her since she was away for 4 yrs at Kansas City Art Institute in KC, MO where she graduated with a BA in Art Animation & a BA in Art History. She is working on her Master’s in Art Animation at Univ of TX at Dallas (UTD) and has a 4.0 (all As). She works weekends at StarBucks. Last yr she started working free-lance (so she lives here & works jobs online) Animation for a company in CA. She is working a non-paid college credit intern job (Animation/Gaming). This past wk she was offered a paid intern job (this will could lead to a more permanent position) with a company close to here in Animation/Gaming and she starts there Mon. They are going to arrange her schedule around her Fall college Master’s schedule on Tuesdays starting this wk. She is paying her undergrad student loan back herself as well as paying for her Master’s classes. We are so proud of her!! Have a Bee-utiful day from Central TX!
