CTMH – Some Kinda Wonderful Masked!

Close to My Heart

Easy Masking For Layering Stamps

I started to make this card for my daughter’s birthday…but, it’s her 21st birthday on Thursday so I thought it might be just a tad kiddish for this milestone event.  I was inspired in my layout by the Fusion Card Challenge sketch.

I love the CAS feel to this card and think these animal stamps from Close To My Heart’s Some Kinda Wonderful are adorable.  But, I masked my turtle too high behind the flower border (from CTMH’s Easter Bunny – last month’s Stamp of the Month).  To “fix” it, I ended up just adding a thin strip of green DP from CTMH’s Some Kinda Wonderful paper pack.  Luckily the fox was an easy mask.  My favorite masking method is to stamp my image on a sticky note and cut it out.  I do have a Masking Liquid but find I am impatient and so normally I end up smudging the ink before it’s dry.  argh…

What rubber stamping supplies do I need to make this card?

CTMH has a great feature they offer.  They have a paper pack, a stamp set and a scrapbooking add-on for their different “themes”.  In this case, Some Kinda Wonderful, is really quite wonderful!   I hand doodled (I’m sure you can tell!  tee hee) the squiggles around the sentiment to make sure it complied with the sketch challenge.  I used my CTMH watercolor paint set for these images – there are quite a few color families and these paints are easy to use.

  1. Love the masking of the adorable trio from that stamp set…CAS and adorable. Thanks for sharing with us at Heart2Heart, and please check out our other challenges for the month of April, you still have time to submit for previous challenges.

  2. By the way, my favorite masking is by cutting out the image in paper also, and I just leave it with my stamp set for the next time I may want to mask and I do use them again and again.

  4. I love that you used the water colours with the thin cuts, it really softened them a bit and made them unique. I also love how you stacked them! Thanks for playing along with Heart 2 Heart Challenges!
