Amusing Challenge – Anything Goes

This week’s theme and monthly prize

If you have been coming here for a while, you may be thinking, “what in the world?” It’s not the last week of the month – it’s the first!  Yes and ALL this month we’ll be having an  Anything Goes Amusing Challenge.   You may have heard that Amuse Studio is closing their doors on Nov 27 … I will be with them until the bittersweet end.  All orders this month will receive Happy Mail from me as my thanks.  On 1 Dec I’ll be joining Close to My Heart!  I will need a new challenge name so I’m announcing a contest to help me think of a new one.  Enter your ideas in the comments below and the winning idea (or even one randomly picked winner!) will get a brand new Amuse Studio stamp set from me!  This contest will run the month of November.

This Week’s Inspiration

Cyndi made a beautiful fall card with Amuse Studio’s new stamp set, Second Springtime.  I love how she layered the images and colored them in with various Copic markers.  Her sentiment really pops and Cyndi told me she covered it with Crystal Glaze after she was done coloring it.

I love how happy and cheerful this card turned out!  No wonder Amuse Studio named this new Santa stamp set:  Be Light.  I must admit I first thought this was a balloon since that’s how they showed it in the September Collection but then my friend Juliet set me straight.  I guess it can be both an ornament or a balloon!  tee hee.  He was super easy to color and I really like how the embossed sentiments on two different cardstocks look.  I think one of the things I will miss most about Amuse Studio is their incredible dies.  This Scalloped border die has seen a LOT of use in my house and will continue to do so.

Amusing Challenge – Think Pink/Breast Cancer Awareness

This week’s theme and monthly prize

Every year Amuse Studio has had a Stamp Out Breast Cancer promotion and this year is no different.  Keeping in that theme, this week’s Amusing Challenge is Think Pink/Breast Cancer Awareness.   I know that there are many cancers other than breast cancer that deserve our attention and this month I have been doubly hit by the loss of a friend just last Thursday to cancer and my cousin was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia.  My heart goes out to all cancer patients!

Throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  There are weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.  October’s winner will receive this featured stamp set from Amuse Studio, Fight Like a Girl, from me for free.  If you don’t want to wait – you can order your free set for just $3 shipping/handling here.  {You will also find a free calendar and digi kit download there too!}

This Week’s Inspiration

I think this is such a clever and fun card from Juliet this week.  For our challenge this week she really did a LOT of coloring with pink – but I love how she colored the background and left the kitties white.  Juliet incorporated her love of doodling on this card and I think it goes well with the Nine Lives stamp set from Amuse Studio.

Cyndi was able to work with several pink tones and get them all to work well with each other on this classic Breast Cancer card.  She used ribbon from her stash (I have a ribbon stash too – how about you?!  Do you think you’ll be able to use it all?  Yikes…I know and admit that I have way too much!)  Cyndi used Amuse Studio’s special stamp set for the month of October – Fight Like a Girl and I love the beautiful butterfly from their retired Papillion stamp set.

This card turned out exactly as I envisioned it – woot, woot!  That doesn’t always happen but I especially like how the “swoosh” of Blush Splash looks under the word HOPE.  I used I wide paint brush to get that effect and then watercolored the rest of the image with an aqua brush and assorted Splashes.  The sentiment is just one of the great Fight Like a Girl stamp  sayings in Amuse Studio’s Stamp Out Breast Cancer set.

This Week’s Inspiration

I am excited to have Juliet back this week with a Rosh Hashanah card she made.  Juliet told me thatapples and honey are traditionally eaten on Rosh Hashanah, to guarantee a sweet year – so this card using Amuse Studio’s Bee Happy is perfect!  Juliet is also the queen bee of doodling and I love her zentangle take on the card.  This makes it a 100% unique, handmade card.

Cyndi is also back this month after dealing with a loss of a family member.  It’s been a hard blow for her and I am thankful that she has had the desire to craft again.  Cyndi shared with me that she started this “wreath” last week using Amuse Studio’s Mini Blooms but it just didn’t feel right so she tossed it aside.  This week she looked at it and was suddenly inspired.  You are in our thoughts and prayers, Cyndi!  I love making my own wreaths with random stamps but if you are nervous about doing that – Amuse Studio has several great wreath stamps in their September and October Collections.

So Amuse Studio has brought out monthly collections for Halloween and Christmas – what’s next?  Well, this month’s October Collection is all about Fall – perfect for this week’s challenge!  I had a LOT of fun playing with the new amuse studio stamp set, Happy Hello.  For this card I channeled my artist-y side and painted with Peerless Watercolor paints – they seriously make anyone an artist!  I also like the subtle details of the sequins and Hello sentiment die cut.  The card still feels very CAS to me and I love it.
