This month’s theme and monthly prize

Anything Goes + a stamp

Sep 24 – Oct 1

Can it really be the last week of September already?  Unbelievable!  We’ve had a heat wave though so it seems like fall will take just a bit longer to arrive!  Thanks for checking out this wee’k’s Anything Goes heARTful stamping challenge.  There are weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.  This month’s prize winner will receive this You Amaze Me petite set…these words are just under an inch long each!

It’s heart wrenching to have seen all of the destruction take place in the wake of the recent hurricanes.  Did you know that CTMH has released a special stamp set, Stronger Together, in an effort to help raise money  – check it out here.  All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross.

This Week’s Inspiration

Masculine cards can be tough but they don’t have to just be browns or blues!  I think Cyndi added just the right touch of “bling” to keep this card interesting but also manly!  She used Nature’s Wish from CTMH and added the color with a waterbrush and ink.  Beautiful!

Last week I had some folks over to celebrate National Stamping Month and I used CTMH’s From the Heart stamp set for all 3 cards.  I featured a few of those cards here on my blog, in case you missed them…  Well, I love those two sheets of stamps so much that after everyone left, I kept my inks out and continued to make cards with From the Heart all week long!  Here I combined it with CTMH’s Birthday Sparkles stamp set.  What I really need is a belated birthday sentiment – since this one went out late.  Very late!

I fell in love with Nicole Nowosad’s card from SCT magazine using CTMH’s From the Heart stamp set.  I couldn’t wait to use her ideas and create my own card.  I love how it turned out!  One tip I have when stamping with this set – use blocks that are a good fit for your stamp.  I find if the block is too big, you will have a tendancy to get extra ink on the block and those end up on your cardstock in stray places.  The little dot pattern is a good way to hide them – ask me how I know!?!  tee hee…   Remember that this stamp set, From the Heart, is available only during September.

CAS Card Design with CTMH’s From the Heart

CTMH From the Heart in celebration of National Stamping Month | CAS card design | #ctmhfromtheheart
September is zipping by so quickly, I can’t believe that you only have 10 days left to get this amazing stamp set from CTMH! In celebration of National Stamping Month (this is where you zone out if you’ve been visiting my blog for a while, tee hee) – CTMH released this limited edition, From the Heart stamp set.  I know I’ve been sharing a lot of cards with this stamp set but that’s because the possibilities of designs and layouts that it offers is mind boggling.  Seriously.  PS.  Those sentiments are part of the set too!

My two cards were very quick to create in an assembly line fashion….and I pretty much NEVER do more than one of each card.  But with this design?  Why not?!  So if you placed an order with me this month, chances are you will get one of these cards!  They are based on a card design created by CTMH consultant Becca Whitham, although hers was nicer, you really can’t go wrong.  Each card you make will be unique.

Just to get you started, here are the colors I used.

Anything Goes + a stamp

Sep 17 – Sep 24

Welcome to our Anything Goes heARTful stamping challenge.  There are weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.  This month’s prize winner will receive this You Amaze Me petite set…these words are just under an inch long each!

What a busy week for me with teaching Kindergartners, having two stamping events at my home (woot woot, that’s fun time for me!) and playing along with the Fall Coffee Lover’s blog hop.  If you haven’t heard about it, you can check out my post here.  I’m also thrilled with the stamp set, Stronger Together, that CTMH released in an effort to help raise money for the Red Cross – check it out here.

This Week’s Inspiration

I love how Cyndi picked up the owl branch from CTMH’s Punny Pals stamp setand paired it with the little twig  from CTMH Stamp of the Month (STOM) called, Feel So Blessed.  There are so many wonderful components from the STOM – including these larger font words and then the other focal images like the embossed circle.  This stamp set can only be purchased during September but you’ll find yourself using it all year round!

Here’s one of the cards we made at my National Stamping Month celebration.  It features one of the larger stamps within the CTMH From the Heart stamp set.  I gold embossed it to make it pop and then paired it with a piece of gold foiled paper from CTMH’s Silver and Gold paper pack.  Some quick coloring with markers and the addition of a scrap of cardstock and I had a CAS card that was quick and easy – and looks terrific!

I did something rash and scary to create this next card….I performed some minor “surgery”.  eeck!  I’ve actually read about it and finally gave it a try because I knew it would make stamping this background a whole lot easier!  I carefully cut the sentiment away from the flower image on one of the larger stamp sets included in CTMH’s From the Heart stamp set.

I took my time and made a clean cut – it works perfectly when I line them back up and want to stamp it as one image!  Remember that this stamp set, From the Heart, is available only during September.

CTMH Feel So Blessed September STOM

CTMH Feel So Blessed Sep 17 Stamp of the Month STOM | CAS card design - quick and easy! | back of the stamp technique

If you received my midmonth tutorial (it’s FREE and you can sign up for it here on my blog!) last month, you will have learned about this “back of the stamp” technique before. I love how quick and easy it is! And, it doesn’t have to be “perfect” to still look terrific.

This lovely feather (it’s really the perfect size!) is just one of the many great stamp images included in Feel So Blessed.  It’s Close To My Heart’s Stamp of the Month (aka STOM) for September.  What’s nice is that you can buy them outright – or, if you have an order going in and it reaches $50 (so EASY to do if you check out the new Holiday Expressions mini catalog!), you can get it for just $5.  I love this set, Feel So Blessed, and think it’s perfect for cardmaking and scrapbooking!

Feel So Blessed Sep Stamp of the Month

Thinking of You is from the CTMH National Stamping Month celebration, From the Heart, and I white embossed it on a scrap of black cardstock.  I love the look of stitching on a card but hate hauling my large sewing machine from the back and bottom of the closet.  I used CTMH’s stitching guide (they are sadly retired now) to poke the holes and then just quickly followed up with a needle and thread.  Easy peasy as we say in Kindergarten!

Some extra ink splatters finishes the card nicely.  I’m not sure if you consider this to be a CAS card (clean and simple) but it really is quick and easy!  Be sure to check out this month’s specials on my webstore…and if you have any questions, just ask!

CTMH’s National Stamping Month Celebration!

CTMH From the Heart stamp set celebrating National Stamping Month! Feel So Blessed Stamp of the Month - Sep 2017 | easy CAS card idea

A Close To My Heart consultant was saying the “trouble” with the new From The Heart stamp set CTMH released for National Stamping Month was that there were so MANY possibilities. I laughed and said, “that’s a good problem!”. There are indeed endless color combinations and ways to arrange these blooms…and boy am I having fun exploring them all!

Here is the two sheets of stamps that are included in the National Stamping Month From the Heart stamp set…you can also upgrade and get a gold foiled set of cards to make this kit even more special!

CTMH From the Heart stamp set

For the card above I used the sheet of solid images and then did some 2 and 3-step stamping.  There really are no mistakes – even if you are in bifocals like myself, or stamp hurriedly (again, like me!) – it tends to look really good when you are finished.  I included the Thanks sentiment from CTMH’s Feel So Blessed Stamp of the Month.  I made a few cards while I had all my inks out and open – each one turned out unique!

Then I looked at one of the stamped images I had of a sentiment and flower outline (I had been coloring in the flowers with copics, colored pencils and watercolors up until now) … and I began to wonder if the solid flower images in the set would fit inside the outline flower images????

They did!! I really love the look because you can see it’s not a perfect fit – but it does achieve a wonderful look. I shared this on our CTMH facebook page and it was a big hit. So, if you are really short on time (or inspiration – because hey, that happens sometimes!) then this is the card for you.  It’s actually one of my favorites in the end.
