This week’s theme and monthly prize

animals + a stamp

Mar 5 – Mar 12

This week’s heARTful stamping Challenge is to create something using your animal stamps – cute or realistic.  It’s all critters so bugs can count too!  You can find last week’s challenge here.

Throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  There are weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.  I have been working on becoming more “organized” as I start my CTMH business (I’ve been stamping over 11 years now!) and I came across this new and uncut rubber cling set I have that is perfect for this month..  February’s random prize winner will receive this rubber stamp set … I will be announcing the winner tomorrow, Monday Mar 6!

This Week’s Inspiration

Cyndi’s card is guaranteed “tu-tu” make you smile!!  Corny, I know – but isn’t this card sweet?  Cyndi did some amazing coloring and then fussy cut out this adorable little giraffe and hippo from CTMH’s Safari Ballet.  That hippo looks like she has on purple lipstick.  And, I love the extra little pop of bling to make this card extra girlie.

The card I’m sharing with you is actually happy mail that I was lucky enough to receive from Mischelle Smith. I have known Mischelle for over 11 years through our love of stamping and the internet…I have an inspiration board that her work always goes when I’m lucky enough to receive one of her works of wonder! Don’t miss out on her whole series of CTMH’s Some Kinda Wonderful here on her blog, Mischellemakes. She has an incredible eye and you won’t be disappointed!  The best part? This month CTMH has all dies on sale for 25% off and that includes stamp/die bundles like this set!  And the heart die Mischelle used as well… Close To My Heart

supplies:  Some Kinda Wonderful stamp/die bundle, Thin Cuts heart die, Gold Glitter cardstock

CTMH Hello Lovely

Close To My Heart

This past weekend I hosted a MEGA card making workshop featuring CTMH’s Hello Lovely patterned paper pack and matching stamp/die bundle by the same name.  I am all about clean and simple and many of our cards were what I like to call, elegant CAS!

Here is one of the cards we made – I loved using my new watercolor paints from CTMH.  It reminds me of a “big kid” version of those paint sets I remember growing up!

The best thing about sharing this card with you today is that Close To My Heart is having a Thin Cuts sale ALL month long!  You save 25%!  Even on items like the Hello Lovely stamp & die bundle.  It’s a great deal and a super time to shop!

CTMH – Tea-rriffic

It’s March 1 and so that means Close To My Heart has rolled out a new Stamp of the Month.  There are so many great stamps in this Tea-rriffic set – you will have fun coloring or paper piecing with it.  The sentiments are perfect too.  I can imagine this set for a church ministry program (we have a tea ministry at our church!) or as featured in the sample above from CTMH, it’s sweet for Mother’s Day.

The best part is that you can get this Stamp of the Month by itself, or with a purchase…and you can really save if you “need” some other supplies.  If I could be so bold to recommend a paper pack, I think Hello Lovely would compliment this set beautifully!

March 2017 Tea-rriffic $17.95 or just $5 with a $50 purchase!

Be sure to let me know if you have any questions, or need any help ordering!

CTMH Here for You Workshops Your Way

Close To My Heart

I have a BIG twelve card workshop coming up this Saturday and I’m excited to have 12 folks coming over PLUS I’m making up 2 “to-go” kits.  I have the supplies for just two more if you are interested.  But, in the meantime, I want to share some cards we made at my card class earlier this month…seems like ages ago!

I fell in love with the Here for You stamp set in CTMH’s latest Seasonal Expressions catalog.  This card is almost exactly like CTMH’s Workshop Your Way Here For You Cardmaking Idea Guide that you get FREE.  This is a special feature when you purchase certain kits…you have the option to download the guides immediately.  For me that’s a plus because it’s an easy starting point and helps me get my stamp set inky right away.

Everything I used in the card above was included in this kit (except the ink!)…there is enough supplies to make 6 of this card and 6 more of a second design.  Or, perhaps you just want to make one and use the papers to do your own thing!  I went in a totally different direction with this Here for You swirl flowers on this card here.  It’s still one of my favorites to date!

What rubber stamping supplies do I need to make this card?

In this case, pretty everything I needed was included in this cardmaking kit.  I did supplement with my inks – CTMH takes all the hard part of guessing the right color out by including the ink colors that complement the paper packs.  Yay!!

This Week’s Inspiration

I have a lot of floral stamps that I’ve collected over the years.  Some are realistic and others are what I call, funky!  I really liked the possibility that I saw in CTMH’s Shower Flowers.  This set of florals offers a little bit of both worlds!  I also think this color combo is perfect for this time of year – with this mild winter here in Northern VA I can see my daffodils are ready to pop open!

Last week I had some fun with the emboss resist technique and I have to admit, once I start it, I have a hard time stopping!  So, here we go again!  My set of CTMH watercolor pencils and Operation Smile True Love stamp set came in the mail on Friday.  So exciting.  I’ve been eyeing this stamp set for awhile (I love that $7 from each purchase goes to a great cause – Operation Smile fixes Cleft Palates) but I made myself “pace myself” as I thumb through the CTMH catalog(s).   I had meant to use this week’s Freshly Made Sketches but left off the sentiment part.  I do think the splash ink background and watercolor pencils will be okay for the AAA Card challenge though.  So you have a challenge card within a challenge – tee hee.

This card is a birthday card for my niece and I love that she often wears her long hair in pigtails.  This little gal reminds me of her.  One of the really cool things about CTMH is that many of their patterned paper packs match well across paper packs AND they all have a small decorative strip across the top of each 12 x 12 sheet.  One side is a unique pattern (that matches the set) and the other side tells you the name of the paper pack and the colors that match.  Makes life so SIMPLE!! A little liquid glass makes her heart really shine.
