CTMH Punny Pals and Operation Smile

CTMH Operation Smile Punny Pals - otter with copics - new CTMH Scalloped Border thincut die

Probably one of the most popular new sets in the CTMH Annual Inspirations catalog (at least based on the response from my recent Open House attendees!) is the new Operation Smile set: Punny Pals.  I love the new Scalloped Border due thincut dies that CTMH also is now offering.  It’s a perfect size for adding just a little bit of detail!

Close To My Heart is partnered with Operation Smile™, an organization that provides free, life-changing surgery that repairs smiles and reshapes lives, one child at a time. Since 2008, Close To My Heart has provided support to change the lives of over 1,500 children and their families.  So, everytime someones purchases the Punny Pals stamp set – CTMH will donate $7 to Operation Smile.  What a win-win deal!  đź™‚

I’ve really had a lot of fun playing with these little cuties and you can see some more cards I’ve made here.

Don’t forget to stop in and check out my Virtual Open House if you missed it!

CTMH Annual Inspirations Virtual Open House!

Today was my Open House kicking off the release of CTMH’s latest Annual Inspirations catalog!  Here you can see the new basic color palatte, one of my favorite thincut dies (Scalloped Border – woohoo!), some new Fundamental papers and, of course, stamps!   I’m really excited about the two toned solid papers and everyone loved this new feature.

It was a last minute event that I squeezed in between my last days of summer which has been  filled with family visits and a trip to the beach.  Despite the rain, I was thrilled to have a full house! Thank you to everyone who came out in person!

If you are not local or you couldn’t make it today – don’t worry! There is still a prize raffle opportunity for you AND, if you place an order with my Open House Gathering by this Sunday at 5 pm ET, you will be entered to win $25 in free Hostess Rewards!

One of my favorite new CTMH stamp sets is Many Congratulations. Here I feature it with the wrapped bow but later on I share a field of flowers I stamped with it for a totally different look and feel.

We made two FREE Make n Take cards at my Open House today. I wanted to feature some stamps and papers from the current Seasonal Inspirations 2 catty – remember that mini catalog retires at the end of this month! Yikes! Here is Jack for cardmaking and the Jack paper pack – from Close To My Heart.

The next card we made was from the brand new Annual Inspirations catalog and features one of CTMH’s new 3-step stamps. Love this Thoughtful Bird and I found it easy to achieve a great look. I think everyone was happy with their results. One tip would be to wipe your block edges between ink colors – I found several folks (including me!) had random and stray lines of ink from that!

If you have ever been over to my house for a stamping event, you know my dog Walter. He normally thinks of these “get-togethers” as his play date – and today was proof it’s true! He got his first card – made by Cole…just one of his biggest fans.

So, you’ve stuck around this far and made it to the end of my post! Leave a comment below if you have or have not ever tried CTMH stamps before and I will pick a prize winner on Saturday, August 18th. I ask that because I was talking to some of my guests that until I discovered CTMH, I had some earlier misgivings from prior experiences with “other” types of clear stamps.   And, honestly, I love them — so glad I decided to join Close To My Heart!

The random drawing winner will get to choose his or her favorite sentiment from the four shown. These are meant for the Cut Above Tag Kit – Golden Moments (which is awesome by the way!) but are designed to work with tags, cards or even a scrapbook page!

handmade birthday card using CTMH's Sugar Rush papers and layout from their ideas book. Great masculine birthday card.
Here’s a fun handmade birthday card I made for my nephew! I have one more that I need to make – TODAY! and mailed TODAY! Yikes. I found the layout in one of CTMH’s idea books. It makes it so easy when you are stuck on where to get started…I love the internet for ideas but sometimes it almost overload and overwhelming. Then I turn to these Close To My Heart books – they have them for both cardmaking and scrapbooking. In fact, there is a brand new version out in the latest Annual Inspirations!  PS.  I used a mix of TAC and a|s stamps for this card and CTMH’s Sugar Rush paper pack – now retired.

I am excited to bring you last week’s heARTful stamping challenge winners for using paper scraps

Congratulations to all the winners!  I loved all the entries this week but had to narrow it down to just 3!  I hope everyone will be back for this week’s Back to School heARTful stamping challenge.

heARTful stamping challenge – Back To School

This month’s theme and monthly prize

Back to School + a stamp

Aug 13 – Aug 20

Have your kids started school yet?  I’m starting to see “first day of school” photos popping up and I start next Monday!  So, why not have a Back to School theme for this week’s heARTful stamping challenge!?    Normally throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  There are weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.  You can also see last week’s heARTful stamping challenge which goes until Sunday night, midnight, right here.

This Week’s Inspiration

Cyndi said she wasn’t that thrilled with her card this week but I think it’s a fun and creative one.  If you look closely, you’ll spot some ideas that you can easily use in your own cardmaking.  I like how she chose to highlight just a few of the embossed words.  She, of course, did some fussy cutting of the fox from CTMH’s Some Kinda Wonderful (retired – but still available and in the Going Soon section!) stamp set.  And, I like how Cyndi wrote in “Back To School” since she didn’t have a sentiment to stamp in the speech bubble.

One of my favorite things about CTMH is their commitment to Operation Smile – a non profit organization that provides surgeries to repair cleft lips and palates for children around the world.  Punny Pals is Close To My Heart’s special set where they will donate $7 from each stamp set sold.  Isn’t this little guy sweet? I had fun combining one of the little critters from that set with CTMH’s Stamp of the Month – School Year.  I used this same little owl last week right here!

While I had my Punny Pals and School Year stamp sets out, I decided to make one more card.  I love to mask (did you see my other bear holding a party drink here?).  I used the broad end of my Copic marker to highlight the punny word!  I’m thinking some black doodling around the white oval might look nice – what do you think?

CTMH – Jack Enjoys a Party Drink!

Jack cardmaking stamp set with a fun party drink from No Worries cardmaking stamp set | all supplies from CTMH | CAS card design - quick and easy | watercolor background

tee hee! Isn’t this a fun card?! I love how it turned out – I’m still grinning. I had an idea to mask Jack with something in his hands and as I looked through all my CTMH stamps, this party drink from the No Worries set jumped out at me. Sometimes you have to give it a try or two to mask something just right, but this was really pretty easy. I did preplan where the drink would fall because of the umbrella in the glass. Perfecto!!

The background was really super easy to create.  I shared a similar card with the instructions here.  I think this watercolored background works equally well with a whimsical or more realistic background.  And, I am loving the trend of having a bright background with an uncolored focal image.  That makes for a really quick card!!

What rubber stamping supplies do you need to make this card?

psst!  I’m on vacation right now and there’s a 99% chance that this is me enjoying a party drink!!
