Using Challenges For Card Design

CTMH

To be honest, I would have never come up with this card if it had not been for me finding these two challenges this week when I needed some inspiration:

Using these two challenges my card quickly came together because I had CTMH’s Live Beautifully rose out (it’s available only during May) and I thought the CTMH Memo Fundamentals paper (which is retiring and available only while supplies last) would be a perfect place to start.  The flowers and squiggly Love come from one of the D-stamp sets CTMH includes in the Cricut packages.  You get the Circut cartridge (or, save $20 like I did and get the digital download!), 3 stamp sets and a paper pack.  The best part?  You can get this for half price as a qualifying hostess.  woot woot!!

What rubber stamping supplies do I need to make this card?

Yesterday I talked about “zip strips” on CTMH’s paper packs.  That little grey (Whisper) pattern is one of those!  I also used a waterbrush and my CTMH watercolor paints to add a little extra dimension to my rose.  It’s gorgeous in real life!  I love the vintage feel to this CAS card.

By the way, I’m starting a new board on Pinterest! It’s called Layouts to Kick Start my MOJO! I hope you’ll follow me.

I shared my Mother’s Day card on Saturday using CTMH’s Live Beautifully stamp set and paper pack.  It’s for National Scrapbooking month and it’s available only during May!  That photo didn’t really show the beautiful gold foil strip and so I wanted to share that now.  Each 12 x 12 paper from CTMH has a little strip at the top to tell you about the paper.  On the other side is a designer paper print that you can use in your card making or scrapbooking – just like I did here!  They are called “zip strips” and I love them.

And now on to our winner’s roll call for last week’s heARTful stamping challenge which was “glitter”.

This month’s theme and monthly prize

Animals + a stamp

May 14 – 21

Today ushers in a brand new challenge here on the heARTful stamping challenge  – this week’s theme is animals.  Normally throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  There are weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.

It seemed fitting with today being Mother’s Day to feature the Hello Lovely Compliments pack from CTMH.  These “stickers” are great for both cardmaking and scrapbooking!  The gold words, hearts and arrows in the lower left corner are raised so they really are quite lovely.

This Week’s Inspiration

Cyndi was at a scrapbooking crop last weekend and so she worked with “limited supplies”.  That might be a great future challenge because I really love what she come up with!  Here is Nature’s Wish from CTMH and I find the focal image so striking.  It’s a mix of great masculine and outdoorsy images as well as useful sentiments.

I continued to make a few more thank you cards for some of my Kindergarten students.  CTMH’s new Jack stamp set for cardmaking is so adorable – he is getting rave reviews and I love all the little “accessory” stamps included in the set.  This cheerful cardstock is no longer available – it was in CTMH’s Seasonal Expressions 1 catty and so I am quickly finding out as a new demo, if you want something, order it!  The “thank you” frame is from CTMH’s Hello Lovely stamp set and is in the Going Soon category so it’s while supplies last.

CTMH Live Beautifully for Mother’s Day

Just a super quick post to share the cards I made for Mother’s Day this year.  I made one for my mom and one for my Mother-in-law.  My husband was really complimentary on how beautiful it was – it really looks dimensional in real life!  I love a pretty CAS card, don’t you?!

I used some paper scraps of CTMH’s Live Beautifully paper pack that I had leftover from my big cardmaking event.  You can make more than 20 cards per pack of paper!  And this rose from CTMH’s Live Beautifully stamp set looks amazing just stamped and then you can add more definition with watercolor pencils and/or colored pencils.  This stamp and paper set are available only during the month of May!

CTMH Rustic Home

Close To My Heart

I love, love, love the CTMH Rustic Home Fundementals paper pack so I won’t lie and say I’m not disappointed that it is on the retirement list.  It’s in the Going Soon! section and will be available only while supplies last.

This is the birthday card I made for my sister and it came about while I was prepping for my Live Beautifully 10 card workshop.  So, many of the elements I used for the class popped up here too!  Ah, that reminds me – be sure to join my heARTful stamping challenge this week because it’s all about glitter!

These daisies were so easy to create with my Cricut Flower Market cartridge from CTMH.  I love that I can get this as a physical cartridge or digital download (less money!) AND, that it comes with 3 stamp sets and a paper pack.  Best part?  You can get it as a Hostess Half Price item.  Interested in finding out more?  It’s super easy to be a Hostess for CTMH and you can do it in person as a Gathering, online or combine the two.  Ask me how
