This month’s theme and monthly prize

Heat Embossing + a stamp

Jul 16 – Jul 23

There are a lot of fun rubber stamping techniques out there and one of my favorites is still embossing with powders.  So, that will be this week’s focus at heARTful stamping challenge?  I hope you will like the design team’s rubber stamped cards and that they give you some card making ideas.  Normally throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  There are weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.  You can also see last week’s heARTful stamping challenge which goes until Sunday night, midnight, right here.

July’s prize winner will receive this Petite Perks stamp set from CTMH.  They are tiny – perfect for a tag or on a card.

This Week’s Inspiration

Juliet always loves a challenge when making her cards so I handed her an old card kit from a class at least a year ago.  She got busy and I really love how striking the bear looks embossed.  It’s one of my favorite CTMH stamp sets and it’s called Jack – cardmaking.  That sounds strange but CTMH also has a paper packet called Jack and a Jack – scrapbooking stamp set that’s really super cute too!

I love the look of embossing on vellum and I was inspired by a card I saw on Instagram by janesdoodles.  It was gorgeous and I wanted to create something similar.  I used the now retired CTMH stamp set called Hello Lovely for the flowers and Happy Heart which is still in the base catalog and will be back another year.  pst!  I’m super excited that Close To My Heart will be carrying vellum again in its new catalog.

Some of you may know that I am a Kindergarten Instructional Aide – I just finished my first year.  It was great and I worked with a group of wonderful teachers.  I was excited to get my hands on CTMH’s September Stamp of the Month called School Days.  As a consultant I can order them early to get started on samples – and in this case, it was perfect for making cards for my fellow teachers.  I also used the School Days set for a few thank you notes.  It looks great with the chalkboard or black board look!

Summer is in full swing now and what better way to kick of July’s heARTful stamping challenge?  So it’s a beach theme this weekNormally throughout the month I have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc.  There are weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.  You can also see last week’s heARTful stamping challenge which goes until Sunday night, midnight, right here.

By the way – I forgot to mention the prize package for June – the winner will be announced tomorrow but it’s this gorgeous roll of White Shimmer trim!

This Week’s Inspiration

You haven’t seen Juliet’s work in a while but we got to spend a wonderful evening crafting together and I had so much fun.  While I had all my stamps laid out, Juliet got busy “playing” with some scraps I had from previous card kits.  I call her the scrap Queen.  She did a lovely job with the monochromatic look on CTMH’s Swirly Seashells – they are only available while supplies last and will not be in the new catalog.  Juliet finished the seashells off with some sparkle – Clear Shimmer Brush (think Wink of Stella!)

Cyndi is an avid scrapbooker so I am especially excited to have her on my design team.  She started off with the new CTMH Workshops Your Way No Worries scrapbooking kit.  I love these kits because they always include paper, sequins and some ribbon.  Then, depending on your choice, you can get Complements or a stamp set.  I love the results!  This is a perfect CAS card – the No Worries paper line is really beautiful and a must have for summer crafting and memory keeping.

I too played with one of the new No Worries stamp sets for cardmaking from CTMH.  You can find these items in their latest Seasonal Expressions 2 catty.  I repeatedly stamped the sentiment on kraft paper (I love how dark the CTMH kraft paper is – watermark ink really pops on it).  I think this card turned out perfectly since we’re getting ready to celebrate the Fourth of July here in the US.

Coloring Fun + a stamp

Jun 4 – Jun 11

Happy June!  Wow, time is flying by – almost time for school to be out but I know many places are already!  This week’s  heARTful stamping challenge is to have some coloring fun.  It’s your choice of medium…you’ll see the design team used a little of everything!

May’s winner will be announced on Monday and they will win this CTMH Hello Lovely Compliments pack.  These “stickers” are great for both cardmaking and scrapbooking!  The gold words, hearts and arrows in the lower left corner are raised so they really are quite lovely.

This Week’s Inspiration

I was so happy to spot this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch layout #224 because it made me immediately think of CTMH’s Swirly Seashells.  Then I came across a lovely blog that mentioned CAS Watercolour Challenge with the theme of “summer” and I knew these shells would be perfect embossed and watercolored.  I used some CTMH reinkers with my waterbrush and it was super fast and easy to get a pretty nice result!  By the way, Swirly Seashells are on CTMH’s retiring list so they won’t be available after the end of July.

supplies: Swirly Seashells stamp set, Live Beautifully zip strip from paper pack, watercolor paper, Gold embossing powder, Canary, Pomegranate, Thistle and Goldrush reinkers, fine and medium tip waterbrush

Cyndi blew me away with her two entries this week!  They are perfect for kids of any age – and those that are “young at heart!”  tee hee…  I absolutely love the way Cyndi took CTMH’s Way To Go stamp set with it’s fabulous borders and banners and turned one of them into a “tight rope”.  It’s brilliant!  This little hippo from CTMH’s Safari Ballet really makes me giggle too.  Sadly both of these stamp sets are part of CTMH’s retirement list so you won’t see them after the end of July.

supplies: Way To Go stamp set, Safari Ballet stamp set – while supplies last

For Cyndi’s next card she use the bold sentiment from CTMH’s Dreamin’ Big paper pack.  These packets include 5 sheets of double sided 12 x 12 paper and then one sheet of  journaling cards and accents that are perfect for both scrapbooking and cardmaking.  Love the pop of the red against the black border.  It’s a fun idea to stamp over patterned paper and then color this little bird with colored pencils.

heARTful stamping challenge – die cuts

This month’s theme and monthly prize

Die cuts + a stamp

May 21 – 28

Thank you for stopping by and checking out this week’s heARTful stamping challenge.  I think – I hope! – this will be an easy challenge since it’s just to use a die cut.

It seemed fitting, with us celebrating Mother’s Day this month,  to feature the Hello Lovely Compliments pack from CTMH.  These “stickers” are great for both cardmaking and scrapbooking!  The gold words, hearts and arrows in the lower left corner are raised so they really are quite lovely.

This Week’s Inspiration

Get ready for two CAS cards…that seems to be my “go to” style!  tee hee…

I have quite a few thank you notes I have to send out for recent orders and I have been on a roll playing with the new Jack cardmaking stamp set in CTMH’s Seasonal Expressions 2 catty.  It’s really a great outdoorsy, masculine stamp set that has a lot of accessories that will help you achieve quiet a few different looks.  I guess that’s why I can stop!  Here I paired him with some bright colors from the Some Kinda Wonderful designer paper pack – this is one of the Going Soon! products leftover from CTMH’s Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog.  The “thank you” sentiment is also from the previous catalog and is one of my favorite collections:  Hello Lovely.  Be sure to check out this section before it’s too late!

supplies: Jack cardmaking stamp set, Hello Lovely stamp set (while supplies last), Some Kinda Wonderful paper pack (while supplies last), Raspberry ink, watercolor pencils, White Daisy paper – CTMH; other: tag die – a|s

This next card is one of my Live Beautifully workshop cards and I was inspired by another CTMH consultant who paired this die cut with the designer paper pack.  I loved the variation of roses that everyone made at my workshop.  Some roses had tinges of yellow that really looked amazing.  you really can’t go wrong!  I used my Flower Market Cricut download from CTMH (which I got as a hostess half priced item and you can too!) to cut out the rose.  I think it really pairs well with the Live Beautifully patterned paper pack that CTMH is offering during May only.  I will keep this card as is until I need a particular sentiment and then I can add that before I mail it out!  Do you do that too?
