Have a Beautiful Birthday

A Muse Studio rubber stamps card supplies:

Papillon, Beautiful Botanicals, Extraordinary Background, Essential Sentiments, Forget Me Not paper flowers, Black embossing powder, Buttercup cardstock, Sky dot gems, assorted inks – A Muse Studio (ribbon – other)

This card was created when I started CASEing my upline, Angela Kelley’s beautiful card.  She is so talented and inspiring!  I added the yellow panel of cardstock which I scored and sanded for some added interest.  The flowers are white paper flowers from A Muse Studio and they are perfect for inking up with copic markers or as I did here, with ink and a sponge dauber.

I have a tutorial on coloring this butterfly here in case you missed it!

I had a great Birthday card making class yesterday and I think everyone had fun!  You still have time to place an order for the Mystery Hostess to win this set, Eat Cake for free!  And…there will be a second prize drawing for $25 in free product.  Yay!  Just send me an email with your order by noon on Saturday, 18 May to enter the drawing…order for $35 or more also get a free pack of onyx notecards.  Double yay!!

card supplies:

Modern Zinnia, Clever Girls, Beautiful Botanicals, Friend to Friend rubber stamp sets, Word Window die set, Cherry ribbon, Onyx cardstock, Pebble/Cherry ink, Versafine Onyx ink – all supplies from A Muse Studio

I love this card!!!  I was inspired by a handmade card  I saw on Pinterest – both colorwise and the idea of mixing different types of foliage.  It is so crisp, clean and modern looking; it makes me so happy!

I have to get busy so I’ll make this short.  I’m having my first ever, evening card making class tonight at 7 pm!  I have one slot open if you are local, or plan to come to my daytime class on Wednesday, May 15!  We’re making some great birthday cards…

Challenges I’d like to enter:

Amusing Challenges – Splash!

Welcome to a new and fun kick off to a new month’s worth of  Amusing Challenges.  This week it’s all about Splash! This is a new product carried this year in the A Muse Studio catalog but you may have some Walnut spray on hand if you don’t have Splash {yet!}.  :)    Throughout the month I’ll have different sorts of challenges…”use it”, themes, sketch, etc. I will have a Weekly Winner and at the end of the month, those 4-5 winners will go into a prize drawing.    April’s prize is your color choice of one bottle of Splash! from the A Muse Studio catalog from me!

Juliet threw me for a loop and sent me head over heals for her card this week.  All I can say is, wow!  I love the three panels she created…my eyes keep traveling from one to another.  The rubber stamp sets are from A Muse Studio and are:  Marvelous Marigolds and the sentiment is from Springtime Day.

My card this week is a direct CASE from Patricia Thorpe – she made this card for a Convention swap and when I saw it online, I almost swooned!  I just love it’s simplicity.  I squirted a bit too much Splash but next time I’ll be more relaxed with my trigger finger…I just had to rush to get it done, photographed and posted in time.  But that tells you just how easy this card is!

Remember Joseph’s Coat?

A Muse Studio rubber stamps

card supplies:  Beautiful Botanicals, Friend to Friend, Script background, UTEE clearing embossing powder, Butterfly trio dies, scalloped border die, assorted inks (ocean, bermuda and wasbi) – matching cardstock – all supplies from A Muse Studio.

The technique, that is!  Finally, on my third attempt, I think I got it right!  The first go around I did something wrong (samples below) – maybe not enough color laid down first before I overstamped the Script Background and then clear embossed Beautiful Botanicals?  hm…or perhaps I should’ve just kept brayering more black on top.  I think also using UTEE for embossing powder helped hold up to all the abuse that followed.  :)  Well anyways, I took my inspiration from this book cover over at the Make My Monday blog challenge.

I love the color combo and the pop on the black in this cover – that’s why when I didn’t achieve it in my card, even though I had to finish figuring our taxes (hey, at least it’s not April yet!) and I should’ve run the vacuum around the house, I kept on trying.  Here is my first attempt – I like the pinks in it but it just wasn’t bold enough!

I did try another technique called “Black Magic”, again, it’s just “okay”.

A Muse Studio rubber stamps

card supplies:  (top) Beautiful Botanicals, Sunny Side of Life. Script background, clearing embossing powder, scalloped border die, assorted inks;  (bottom)  Sunny Side of Life, white embossing powder, colored pencils – all supplies from A Muse Studio (except pink ribbon)

Thanks for sticking around for my show and tell.  I often just stop at, “oh well, it’s good enough” but I am so glad I went back to the drawing board and kept trying.  In the end, I’m really happy with that top card.

Amusing Challenges

Juliet just got Springtime Day – one of the Spotlight Specials from A Muse Studio (which means it’s on sale!) and got right to work on it.  I love her CAS card…the flower from Marvelous Marigolds makes a perfect backdrop for that bunny!

Cyndi did such a cute Easter card with the For Peep’s Sake from A Muse Studio.  I love all the layers she has going on here!

I turned the sketch on the it’s side to try a different look.  I “think” I like the way this card turned out – at least I like the various elements in it.  I used Beautiful Botanicals, Papillon, You’re Too Kind and of course a small doily from A Muse Studio.
