CTMH Banner Love — Valentine Tags

CTMH Banner Love | Valentine tags | paper scraps

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I was inpsired by some tags I spotted on Pinterest and “knew” I had a bag of perfect scraps to make some myself. CTMH’s Banner Love steals the show AND it’s on sale this month! It obviously works well with their tag and banner thin cut dies but it’s also ideal for cardmaking and scrapbooking.

CTMH Splash of Color
Now I might be singing that all day…”all you need is love — love is all you need!” This was such a quick and easy Valentine to make with CTMH’s Splash of Color stamp set working as the backdrop. The sentiment is from one of the stamp sets included in CTMH’s Artistry Cricut bundle but it would be easy to switch out for any occasion.  I like it when a card design can do double duty!

And now on to the Top 3 winners from last week’s Anything Goes – heARTful stamping challenge.  WOW!  We really had a lot of entries and it was quite difficult to narrow it down to three.  sigh… but, that’s a good problem to have!  Like my husband and I joke – are you complaining or bragging?!  tee hee.

heARTful stamping challenge – Anything Goes

This month’s theme and monthly prize

Anything Goes + a stamp

Feb 11 –  18

Rain, rain go away!  It’s strange to have 2 days of heavy rain during the winter – I think I’d welcome snow instead.  Either way, it’s a good reason to stay home and get inky!  I hope that you have some time to join in on this week’s Anything Goes heARTful stamping challenge!  We’re a great place to get and share some card making ideas for your rubber stamped cards.

If this is your first visit here, there are normally weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.   February’s prize winner will receive this package of beautiful Chelsea Gardens dots from CTMH.

This Week’s Inspiration

Valentine’s day is just around the corner and look at this stunning card Cyndi created.  I love how she embossed the large image and then die cut it out.  This stamp is now retired but it’s called Grateful Heart and it’s from CTMH.  By using just this rich red and black, the card is so elegant!

I too have a Valentine to share … this one is cute for kids and adults!  It features another CTMH stamp set that is now retired called Some Kinda Wonderful.  I love that CTMH has begun offering thin cut dies for many of their stamp sets so if you hate to fussy cut, it makes things a lot easier!  This sky was so easy to sponge and it a great technique for you to try if you haven’t already.  A die cut or torn scrap of thin copy paper is all you need and a nice light blue of ink.

With all of the rain I wasn’t able to get a really bright photo but I love the soft colors of CTMH’s Basics Fundamentals paper pack combined with their color of the year – Bashful.  By the way, all of CTMH’s pinks are 25% off this month for their Pretty in Pink sale! The sentiment and flowers are from CTMH’s Stamp of the Month called Sunny Thoughts…which has been getting me through this dreary spell we’re in!  This is a great card sketch for using up scraps of paper and is loosely based off of one in CTMH’s Make it From Your Heart volume 4 how-to book filled with 24 card patterns.  Do you spot those cute little cork shapes?  They are in CTMH’s Seasonal Expressions 1 catty and are in the Gimme Some Sugar line.  Sweet!!

CTMH Banner Love

CTMH Banner Love | emboss resist technique | handmade valentine

Like to play around with ink splashes and get messy?! I do! I had so much fun making this card using the emboss resist technique. I clear embossed (next time I think I’ll go with white embossing powder for an even better “pop”) the love sentiment and heart from Close To My Heart. I earned this set as a new consultant for FREE! After that I sprayed and brushed Apple Splash across it and let it dry well. A soft rag did a really nice job buffing off the embossed parts. Then I white embossed the sentiment YOU + ME from CTMH’s Banner Love stamp set on a scrap of Charcoal cardstock. I was totally inspired from Lime Doodle’s blog and a Valentine she did a couple of years ago…or maybe last year?

Banner Love is not just for banner and tag dies! The best part? It’s on SALE this month during CTMH’s Pretty in Pink sale!

Oh, and I’m finally able to play along with my friend Debra Davison’s If You Give a Crafter a Cookie challenge!  woo hoo!

CTMH Stargazer is Perfect for Valentines!

CTMH Stargazer Valentine

I had a recent Valentine’s Day workshop in my home and laid out an assortment of different types of cards – ones that would work for a friend, spouse or kids! For this card I used CTMH’s new Stargazer for cardmaking stamp set. I just love how this CAS (clean and simple) card turned out.  I did minimum coloring with copics but really had some fun sponging the night sky.

I made a template with a circle die and reverse masked. Thanks to Vicki Wizniuk for listing the colors she used – it made it so much easier to get started!   The colors are:  Lagoon, Sapphire and Pacifica.  Once I was finished sponging, I splattered Marshmellow Splash across the sky.   I also inked my sentiment in Sapphire ink.

My husband loves anything to do with outer space so this card would definitely work for him – I think it’s a great handmade Valentine for boys and men alike.   You can check out the entire Stargazer line by clicking below!
