CTMH Free Cake!

CTMH Free Cake! | CAS card | handmade birthday card - masculine | watercolor pencils

I am late getting this card in the mail for my dad! Yikes. I always think I’ve got plenty of time but my parents live in rural Wisconsin and it takes more than the standard 3 days postal service to arrive!

So quickly, here are the details! I cut apart my cute new little ($2.95!!) stamp set from CTMH called Free Cake! Personally cake is always MY favorite part of any birthday so this stamp set really spoke to me – ha ha! Anyways, I randomly stamped the cake image with Archival black ink and colored them with CTMH watercolor pencils. I got better as I went because I learned to first color/wet the inside cake layers before going back and coloring/wetting the frosting part of the cake. By painting the two layers separately, they could dry a little and ran less. The sentiment in Free Cake! is so fun and I created a little banner at the top – it’s covering a puddle of brown I managed to get on the card. Yikes. I finished it all off with a splatter or two of Walnut Ink – I think those were the very first spray bottles of ink that ever came out…it’s been at least 10 years that I have them!  Free Cake! is in CTMH’s Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog – there is another really funny birthday stamp set in there if that’s your style.

Yesterday was my birthday (woot woot!) and I received two beautiful cards in the mail from friends.  Thank you Sue B and Erica F…I feel loved!!

heARTful stamping challenge – Anything Goes

This month’s theme and monthly prize

Anything Goes + a stamp

Jan 21 –  28

Welcome to this week’s Anything Goes heARTful stamping challenge!  I had to say goodbye to my daughter last week as she headed back to school for her LAST semester of college – yikes!  My son leaves on the 23rd and the house will be super quiet again.  I’ll probably throw myself into stamping as I’ve been slacking off a bit lately.

If this is your first visit here, there are normally weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.

This Week’s Inspiration

I was horrified to hear how bad the flu season is in the US this year.  Last year I had the vaccine and still came down with a bad case – I and 9 kids in my Kindergarten class were hit over the same weekend!  This year I didn’t get the vaccine and so I’m a bit worried.  Cyndi has a timely card with all of that going on!  She used a retired CTMH set and although being sick is never a laughing matter, this did make me smile!

CTMH Get Better Soon

I was tickled to get  a new recruit on my team this month and even more blown away when Tara HIT all three steps to CTMH’s Straight to the Top rewards in one month.  She blew my record out of the water!  woohoo!  I had fun making this card for Tara using one of the stamp sets that is part of the Straight to the Top rewards (fabulous & You sentiments) and the butterfly is from CMTH’s new stamp set:  Chelsea Gardens.  I watercolored the gold foil paper from the Live Beautifully paper pack – CTMH just put it in the Clearance section!  I’ve also colored it with Copic markers which you can see here.

CTMH Live Beautifully Paper Now on Clearance!

CTMH Live Beautifully paper pack (now on clearance!) | Gold embossed butterfly from CTMH Chelsea Gardens | handmade sympathy card

I had to make a sympathy card for a friend and I started to dig through my scraps of CTMH’s Live Beautifully paper pack.  The butterfly (from CTMH’s new stamp set:  Chelsea Gardens) is gold embossed on vellum and picks up the gold in the one paper perfectly!  I like the fancy font for a sympathy card and that’s from the first stamping company I ever was with – The Angel Company!

You may remember this Live Beautifully paper from a special CTMH campaign last year – it’s a gorgeous paper pack and you’ll be excited to hear that it’s now on clearance! The price is amazing and with Valentine’s Day coming up, it’s a great paper to have on hand.

I had forgotten how many wonderful cards I made with this paper pack until I just did a quick search on my blog.  It feels good to use up paper scraps and this layout just came about from the pieces I had…no trimming was involved!  I like it so much, I’ll probably use it again.

CTMH Chelsea Gardens CAS Card Design

CTMH Chelsea Gardens cardmaking stamp set and paper pack | CAS card design

Today was a snow day here – not resulting in a day off from school but a two hour delay! I was happy to enjoy breakfast with my visiting Sister-In-Law and had a leisurely start to the day. There’s lot of white on this card which reminds me of the snow but the butterfly and soft green makes me thing of spring! sigh…

I really love how this card turned out but it’s so easy to make a pretty card using CTMH’s new stamp set and paper line called:  Chelsea Gardens.  I would say the new Seasonal Expressions 1 catalog is a winner and out that, this is my favorite!  Honestly, I think a lot of folks like it and I am a little bit worried that it may eventually run out so if you like it, order it soon!

Linen stamped flowers make a pretty backdrop to my thanks sentiment. Don’t like to fussy cut? Great news! This set has a matching thincut die. woohoo! Life is good.
