heARTful stamping challenge winners!

I shouldn’t tease you but my first order from CTMH’s Holiday Expressions arrived last week! I’ve just started to play with it (check out how I used one Christmas themed stamp set for an everyday card here) but hopefully this will help inspire you all for weeks to come! The best part? I earned about a third of this for FREE as a Close To My Heart consultant…they have a generous program and after 6 months + of being with them, I still love it! If you’d like to learn more about joining my team (and earning the From the Heart kit for FREE as a sign up bonus this month), be sure to email me!

And now for last week’s heARTful stamping challenge winners!  The entries were terrific – thanks to everyone for joining in!

This month’s theme and monthly prize

Anything Goes + a stamp

Sep 10 – Sep 17

It’s so hard to believe the destruction that has happened in Texas and as I type this, we await Hurricane Irma’s toll on Florida.  My thoughts and prayers are with those in harms way and that are suffering so much.  You can see the small part CTMH is trying to play in raising money for the Red Cross here.

If you have time this week, I’d love for you to join our Anything Goes heARTful stamping challenge.  There will still be weekly Top 3 winners and a random winner from all of the participants receives the monthly prize drawing.  This month’s prize winner will receive this You Amaze Me petite set…these words are just under an inch long each!

This Week’s Inspiration

Last week Cyndi had a bad fall in her garage and hit her head hard and hurt her foot…this week she had to get a walking cast because there was a torn ligament involved.  Ouch!  I hope you are feeling better this weekend, Cyndi!  I do think crafting has a healing nature to it and amazingly, Cyndi felt like stamping and sent me this sweet, sweet card.  Although she has 3 cats at home, I’m tickled that she picked the dog from CTMH’s Punny Pals stamp set.  It’s this year’s Operation Smile stamp set where they donate $7 from each set sold to that charity.  Cyndi also used the Stamp of the Month from CTMH called, Feel So Blessed.  Doesn’t this card make you smile?!  I love it!

I have been having a lot of fun combining two September special stamp sets from CTMH – Feel So Blessed (stamp of the month) and From the Heart, their exclusive set available only this month.  This was the first time I stamped the flowers on colored cardstock and I really like the results.  I also used my new Buffalo Plaid embossing folder from CTMH’s Holiday Expressions catalog.  I love that you really can’t go wrong when stamping these flowers and each card is unique.

I pretty much CASEd this card using Thoughtful Bird from the new CTMH Annual catalog but I made one simple change:  that striped piece!  The original card used some patterned Fundamental papers but I love looking at my stamp sets and try to use them for more than one purpose.  Those stripes come from a new Christmas stamp set called Silver & Gold in the CTMH Holiday Expressions catty.
I think I will be using these stripes and dots in many future cards!

CTMH Stronger Together: All proceeds support the Red Cross

Stronger Together – C1716

CTMH created a very special stamp set that is designed specifically to benefit those affected by disasters, such as the recent hurricanes in the US and the wildfires throughout the US and Canada. The stamp set is titled Stronger Together and features a variety of sentiments that can be used for comfort, encouragement, and more.

In order to be able to support multiple needs, CTMH has determined that proceeds from the sale of this set will be donated to the Red Cross, which provides relief efforts to multiple disasters, and which will allocate the funds to where they are needed most. In order to maximize the donation amount, ALL proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross.

CTMH believes in the good that comes when we work together as a community. As the stamp set name states, we truly are stronger together. Ordering this set is one way of coming together and strengthening those who need some extra help in the wake of devastation.

The set is called “Stronger Together” (Item #C1716)

$13.95

Thank you CTMH!

It’s been exciting to see so many in the stamping and scrapbooking community donating to the current storm victims.  My prayers go out to all who are suffering.

CTMH Feel So Blessed September STOM

CTMH Feel So Blessed Sep 17 Stamp of the Month STOM | CAS card design - quick and easy! | back of the stamp technique

If you received my midmonth tutorial (it’s FREE and you can sign up for it here on my blog!) last month, you will have learned about this “back of the stamp” technique before. I love how quick and easy it is! And, it doesn’t have to be “perfect” to still look terrific.

This lovely feather (it’s really the perfect size!) is just one of the many great stamp images included in Feel So Blessed.  It’s Close To My Heart’s Stamp of the Month (aka STOM) for September.  What’s nice is that you can buy them outright – or, if you have an order going in and it reaches $50 (so EASY to do if you check out the new Holiday Expressions mini catalog!), you can get it for just $5.  I love this set, Feel So Blessed, and think it’s perfect for cardmaking and scrapbooking!

Feel So Blessed Sep Stamp of the Month

Thinking of You is from the CTMH National Stamping Month celebration, From the Heart, and I white embossed it on a scrap of black cardstock.  I love the look of stitching on a card but hate hauling my large sewing machine from the back and bottom of the closet.  I used CTMH’s stitching guide (they are sadly retired now) to poke the holes and then just quickly followed up with a needle and thread.  Easy peasy as we say in Kindergarten!

Some extra ink splatters finishes the card nicely.  I’m not sure if you consider this to be a CAS card (clean and simple) but it really is quick and easy!  Be sure to check out this month’s specials on my webstore…and if you have any questions, just ask!

CTMH’s National Stamping Month Celebration!

CTMH From the Heart stamp set celebrating National Stamping Month! Feel So Blessed Stamp of the Month - Sep 2017 | easy CAS card idea

A Close To My Heart consultant was saying the “trouble” with the new From The Heart stamp set CTMH released for National Stamping Month was that there were so MANY possibilities. I laughed and said, “that’s a good problem!”. There are indeed endless color combinations and ways to arrange these blooms…and boy am I having fun exploring them all!

Here is the two sheets of stamps that are included in the National Stamping Month From the Heart stamp set…you can also upgrade and get a gold foiled set of cards to make this kit even more special!

CTMH From the Heart stamp set

For the card above I used the sheet of solid images and then did some 2 and 3-step stamping.  There really are no mistakes – even if you are in bifocals like myself, or stamp hurriedly (again, like me!) – it tends to look really good when you are finished.  I included the Thanks sentiment from CTMH’s Feel So Blessed Stamp of the Month.  I made a few cards while I had all my inks out and open – each one turned out unique!

Then I looked at one of the stamped images I had of a sentiment and flower outline (I had been coloring in the flowers with copics, colored pencils and watercolors up until now) … and I began to wonder if the solid flower images in the set would fit inside the outline flower images????

They did!! I really love the look because you can see it’s not a perfect fit – but it does achieve a wonderful look. I shared this on our CTMH facebook page and it was a big hit. So, if you are really short on time (or inspiration – because hey, that happens sometimes!) then this is the card for you.  It’s actually one of my favorites in the end.
